Judy's Daisy Cake

I made this cake for Mrs. Conway's birthday. She told me I'm old enough to call her Judy now, but thats kinda strange for me ~ its like calling your schoolteacher by her first name! OK, so here goes...Judy was my next door neighbor. I've known her and her beautiful family since I was 5yrs old. I have such great memories from throughout my childhood with The Conway's. She is also Mary's mom....(see post below).
I decided to try my daisy cutter for this cake and they really came out beautifully. Gumpaste is so much nicer to work with than fondant...the problem is gumpaste is incredibly expensive :(
Judy loved the cake...Happy Birthday Mrs. Conway ~ LOL!!!

High Hopes

Tryin to believe our Phillies will win the series but it doesnt look good :(
I made this cake when they were down 3 games to 1, but last night they got the win they so desperately needed...YIPPEE! It's still gonna be a tall order to "spank the Yanks" for the next 2 games, but like they say in Philly ~ "You Gotta Believe". Let's go Phils...bring the championship home!!

Mini Candy Corn Cakes

I saw these on a cake decorators website and I had to make them...they are so cute! The cake is just a regular old yellow box cake mix. I baked it in a 8x3 round pan, cut the cake in 6 servings and decorated with vanilla buttercream. I used piping bags with star tips for a cool effect. Fall baking...now on to my gourmet apples!

Mary's Red October

It's awesome to have a great friend who shares the same passion as I do. My friend is Mary. Mary & I have been friends our whole lives! We grew up next door to each other and I always felt like I was a member of her beautiful family. We recently re-connected on Facebook, and I couldn't be happier! Last Friday, I delivered Phillies cupcakes to Best Uniform - (where Mary works) - you see, Mary started somewhat of a Phillies "pep rally". If the Phillies make the post season, every Friday Mary & her co-workers bring in TONS of delicious cakes, cookies & snacks...some which are adorned in Phillies red. It was so nice to meet the other employees, and share the pride in our beloved "boys of summer".
Red October - what a beautiful thing.

Mary's contribution to the pep rally. GO PHILS!

Melting Snowman

I had so much fun with these cookies. As much as I dont want to accept it, winter is just about here, so it was time to try some seasonal cookies.  I made the first snowman really mad...and it added so much to the character! The other snowman looks just so content with melting away.  These are rolled sugar cookies, iced with royal icing. The 3-D pieces are all made from marshmallow fondant. These are offered on my website for $15 a dozen if anyone is interested. The link is in the upper right corner of this page. Enjoy!

NL East Champs - AGAIN!

For the 3rd year in a row our beloved Philadelphia Phillies took
the National League East Championship!
I was only able to catch the last 3 innings, but they
were OUTSTANDING. Big thanks to Mary for texting
me the updates :)  Let's hope our boys can do
it all again and take the big one.
Pack your bags ~ it's on!

Alice & Shelly

On September 19th, my dear friend Alice and her lovely girlfriend, Shelly made it official. I love this picture. I remember wondering if Alice was gonna make it through without crying.
She did great.

I think both Alice & Shelly will like this one.

The cake. My oh my this cake! Alice & Shelly asked me to make this as an addition to their wedding cake. I met with Alice at Atkinson Park (I remember it as Bethel Mill) and we walked to this great little spot.
She then shared why this place was so special...it was where she & Shelly first met! They each had a cup of Dunkin Donuts coffee: Alice had a medium, and Shelly had a large. They sat on their "own" benches...and thats how it all began! So I sketched out the scene and took a few photos. They both had too much confidence in me...LOL. I was nervous. I wanted to make it perfect...perfect for the day...perfect for their guests...perfect for THEM. In the end all I really cared about was their happiness. They loved it,
and I breathed a BIG sigh of relief.

This is for you, my friends. Love you both.
